Photography
1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
I selected these because I had a brief understanding of both concepts before watching the videos. Not only do I have an understanding, I'm also interested in both topics.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Andy- I think silk screening was the most important concept I learned.
Photography- I thought it was interesting to learn about how people used to give him a hard time for doing photography. It was also interesting to learn about Polaroid cameras.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The readings and videos related directly, but I like how the videos talked extensively about famous artists (Warhol and Hockney).
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
They were really helped me understand the topics and taught me a lot of things I didn't know.

Mod 11 Videos
Dada
Expressionism
1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
I've heard of expressionism before, so that's something that has always interested me. The second video I've never heard of so I thought I'd give it a shot and see if it's something I was interested in.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Dada- I didn't know much about surrealism before watching this video, but from what I took away from the video is that surrealism is the creative nature of the unconscious mind, basically using one's imagination to create art.
Expressionism- In this video, I learned the importance of color. Color is the one thing that sticks out to people. When they walk into a gallery, it's usually color that catch's one's attention.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos have similar information, but the videos gave many more visuals that helped me truly understand the concepts.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
These videos certainly weren't my favorite. They seemed a little old, however it was nice to have lots of visuals to enhance the concepts taught.

Mod 10 videos
Here are the videos I selected:
Buddhism
Hinduism
1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
I selected this videos because I know a little bit about the beliefs that these two religions entail.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Buddhism- I learned about the rise of Buddhism in India and a lot about architecture, including the Borobudur Temple, which is the largest Buddhist shrine in the world and the Chuang Yen Monastery in NYS.
Hinduism- One thing that jumped out to me about this video is how you don't need a church or temple to practice this religion. No matter where you are, you can worship. This religion also is polytheistic.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
These videos gave a lot more information than the book. The book briefly touched on these religions and the artistic impact around them, the video went into each more more deeply.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
Like I said in the previous question, the books didn't have much info. I gained a lot of knowledge of these topics through the videos. The videos did an outstanding job.

Mod 9 Hand Sketch
What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing?
It was fun. I haven't done it in probably 10 years though. It was difficult to fit both of my hands on one piece of paper. I should have bought larger paper so I can extend my hand more.
2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why?
I selected pencil because I'm really bad at shading, so I figured if I made a mistake I'd have the ability to erase and re-do.
3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand?
I'm really bad at drawing as it is, using my non-dominant hand was like brain surgery for me. I had basically no control of the pencil.
4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies?
They are. It really shows how much better your dominant hand is than your non-dominant.
5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future? Never. I need all the help I can get when drawing.
